I've been a light sleeper my whole life. Unit in Fitzroy, tram line not far, bin night, someone's always up. Foam plugs from the chemist either fell out or made my ears ache by 2am.

These acoustic ones sit flush, which is the whole point if you sleep on your side. Took one night to work out which tip size. Not magic silence — I still hear my alarm — but the stuff that used to jolt me (neighbours, traffic, the dog downstairs) doesn't anymore. Woke up actually feeling like I'd slept. Case is decent too. I'll buy another pair when these wear out.

Inner-city Brisbane. Every little thing wakes me — motorbikes, the pub shutting, my partner rolling over. I'd given up on earplugs because they stuck out and hurt when I slept on my side.

Ordered the acoustic earplugs and the 3D contoured mask together. The mask doesn't squash my eyes the way the cheap satin ones do, and it actually blocks the streetlight through the blinds. Earplugs stayed in all night. First time in ages I didn't clock 3am on my phone. Two separate things, one problem: I'm too bloody sensitive to the world at night. This combo just takes the edge off enough that I can stay under.

I don't have a noise problem so much as a brain that won't shut up at 11pm. I'd tried the breathing apps. I'd tried tea. I wanted something physical.

The chunky knit blanket is the thing I actually reach for. Even weight, no beads rattling around. I put it on the couch first, then take it to bed. Not a magic switch-off button, but I stop fidgeting, which is half the battle. Warm-ish — I wouldn't want it in a Brisbane summer without the AC on, but Hobart nights it's perfect. Looks decent on the end of the bed too, which I did not expect to care about.

I overthought this and bought the big kit. Bondi unit, partner who moves a lot, brain that rehashes the day at midnight, streetlight through cheap blinds. I wanted one order, not four.

I don't use every piece every night. Earplugs and the lavender mask are the nightly pair. Tape and strips on the nights I'm stuffy or he's snoring. The mask with the cool insert after a screen-heavy day is genuinely the wind-down I didn't have. Pricey up front, cheaper than buying it all separate. First week I was still fiddling with ear-tip sizes; after that it became automatic. I finally have a bedtime that isn't just lying there waiting.

I flip the pillow every ten minutes in summer. Canberra nights can still be warm, and I run hot anyway.

The ice silk pillow is actually cool to the touch when you first put your face on it, which sounds like marketing until you do it. Combined it with the silk mask because I get streetlight through the blinds and I didn't want another heavy mask. Pillow is a bit firmer than my old one — ended up liking that for side sleeping. Knocked a star because it won't save you in a 35-degree room with no fan, and I wish the mask came with a pouch. With the fan on, I stopped waking up sweaty. That's the test.

I'd never stuck anything in my ears to sleep. Foam ones from the supermarket lasted twenty minutes and then I was picking bits out. Live near the highway and a neighbour who thinks 11pm is a reasonable time to start the dishwasher.

SilentCore are slim, they sit flush, and I forgot they were in — which is the review, really. Two tip sizes in the box; the smaller ones were mine. Aluminium case is tiny. I can still hear the smoke alarm test (checked, because I worried). Not the fanciest pair they sell, and I didn't need fancy. Just something that doesn't hurt when I roll onto that side. Will tell my sister, who has the same problem.

I work nights. Trying to sleep at 9am with the sun up and the street going is a joke. White noise apps did nothing. Blackout curtains helped until someone mowed.

Got the Total Blackout Kit because I needed noise and light, not one or the other. The lavender mask was the surprise — I chuck the insert in the freezer for a few minutes after a night shift and it takes the heat out of my face. Earplugs knock the daytime noise down enough that I can actually nap. Still not a perfect eight hours, but I'm not dragging into the next roster like I was. Still hear my alarm, which was the worry.

I fly Sydney–Melbourne and the odd red-eye to Perth more than I'd like. Used to get off the plane wrecked. This kit lives in my backpack now.

Earplugs take the cabin down. Silk mask is light and doesn't wreck my skin the way the airline ones do. Mouth tape felt weird for about two nights at home before I trusted it on a flight — I was waking up with that dry-mouth thing and it helped. No batteries, no gel, sails through security. Used it in a hotel in Adelaide last week and the hallway bangs didn't wreck the first night. That's the whole product for me: it actually gets used, not left in the drawer.

FIFO out of Townsville. Camp rooms, planes, the odd motel with paper walls. I don't need a ritual, I need something that fits in the carry-on and works when the bloke next door is watching footy at 1am.

Kit does the job. Earplugs and the silk mask are the bits I use every swing. Mouth tape I use less — useful on the plane, less so in the donga. Knocked a star because delivery took a bit (I ordered between swings) and the mask strap needed a tighten before it stopped slipping. Case is small enough that it doesn't get left behind. Would buy the earplugs on their own next time and keep this as the travel set.

He snores. I don't. We were this close to separate rooms and I was getting nasty about it, which isn't fair on anyone.

Bought the anti-snore kit so we could try both sides at once: tape and nasal strips for him, earplugs for me. He was weirded out by the tape for two nights, then forgot it was there. I still hear a bit of rumble — it's not gone — but I don't wake up angry anymore. That's the whole win. Nasal strips he actually likes; says he breathes easier. If he won't tape on a given night, the earplugs still get me through. Wish we'd done this a year ago.

My wife made me. Fair enough — I snore, she doesn't sleep. I was not sold on taping my mouth shut.

First night felt odd. Second night I slept through and she said it was quieter. I breathe through my nose more, wake up less dry. The herbal strips are the easy bit; I use those even when I skip the tape. Not a miracle and I'm not pretending I don't still snore sometimes. Four stars because the tape took a few goes to sit right and I wouldn't want it if I had a blocked nose. She bought earplugs as well. Between the two of us, the house is less of a warzone in the morning.
